Mr. Cary R. Smith, 66, of Hawkinsville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at his residence.  A graveside service will be held at Orange Hill Cemetery on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Gary Abbott officiating. A celebration of life will follow the graveside service at the home of his brother Scott Smith at 16 Merritt St, Hawkinsville, Georgia, 31036

Mr. Smith was a native of Pulaski County, Georgia and a member of the Baptist faith. Cary grew up loving to hunt, building things with his hands and woodworking. His laughter was contagious and he never met a stranger. He was a 1976 graduate of the Darlington School and was a retired butcher for M & T Meat Company in Hawkinsville.  Cary loved the outdoors which included fishing and gardening. He loved his dogs and especially loved spending time with his family and friends. Cary enjoyed sitting on his many porches enjoying his happy life at the creek.  Cary was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Bembry Smith and Dixey Andrews Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Coleman Smith; children, Russell Andrews Smith, Amanda Bembry Smith, David Coy Harpe (Alisha Harpe), Leila Carol Harpe and Kenzie Harpe Mashburn (Tate Mashburn); 7 grandkids; his brother, Scott Havens Smith and his sisters, Lindsay Nell Smith and Lani Smith Lawrence; 2 nephews and 3 nieces.

Donations may be made to the Hawkinsville-Pulaski County Animal Shelter, PO Box 475, Hawkinsville, Georgia 31036.
