Mr. Chester (Skip) Augustus Garis, Jr., 80, of Hawkinsville, Georgia passed away December 7, 2019 at Pinewood Manor in Hawkinsville, Georgia.Skip's Celebration of Life will be memorialized on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11 o'clock at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Varnell officiating.
Mr. Garis was a native of Bangor, Pennsylvania.He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hawkinsville, Georgia, where he taught Sunday school in the Lucille Adams Class.He also taught Science in Vacation Bible School for a number of years to the children.Skip was a retired Veteran and served in the U. S. Navy for 21 years.He retired as a Master Chief Electronic Technician.He served on the U.S.S. Conger, the U.S.S. Thomas Edison, U.S.S. George Bancroft and the U.S.S. Patrick Henry, which he was very proud of.He then retired after 17 years from Northrup Gruman as a Senior Engineer.He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester A. Garis, Sr. and Grace Kachline and his daughter, Stacee M. Webb.
Those left to forever cherish his memory include his wife, Betty Weidman Garis of Hawkinsville, Georgia; sons, Mark Alan (Judith) Garis of Hawkinsville and Dana Joe (Laurie) Garis of Bangor, Pennsylvania (both of whom he was so proud); sisters, Geraldine (Paul) Labar, of Bangor, Pennsylvania, Bonnie (William) Zanetti of Florida and brother, Ronald (Andrea) Garis of Bangor, Pennsylvania; grandchildren; Nicole (Eli) Lewis, Mark, Jr. (Alison) Garis, Amber and Hunter Garis and 3 great-grandchildren, Brantley, Tessa Rose and Noah.

To all those who loved me, assisted me, cared for me, laughed with me and taught me things so that I could have a wonderful, happy life. I was blessed beyond measure by knowing all of you. That is what made my life worthwhile.
