Claudia Knight Fowler, 72, of Hawkinsville, Ga. died Friday, January 15, 2010 at her residence.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Hawkinsville, Ga. with Dr. Don McClung, Dr. Gary Abbott and Dr. Kelly Pritchett officiating.Burial will be in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens.Burial will be private.
Mrs. Fowler was born in Fort Valley, Ga. on October 15, 1937 and was a member of the Hawkinsville First Baptist Church. Her parents, who preceded her in death , were L. B. and Effie Knight.She was a retired dental hygienist for 43 years, working for Dr. Richard B. Smith for 25 years and Dr. Charles R. Robertson for 18 years. She also co-owned the Steak House Restaurant in Hawkinsville, Ga. for 42 years with her family.She was a very active participant in her church and all community projects and famous for her homemade ice cream.She worked with the Pulaski County Arts Council and the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis J. Fowler, Sr. (Jack) of Hawkinsville, Ga.; Daughter, Cynthia F. Daviss and her husband, Fred of Perry, Ga.; son, Lewis J. Fowler, Jr. of Hawkinsville, Ga.She had one grandson, Michael King of Hawkinsville, Ga.; She is survived by three sisters, Betty Harbuck of Marshallville, Ga., Helen Abrams of Leslie, Ga. and Sandra Ray of Fort Valley, Ga.; two brothers, Ronnie Knight of Fort Valley, Ga. and Richard Knight of Covington, Ga..She is also survived by her many friends.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Dykes, Heath Dykes, Lewis Abbott, Russell Abbott, Michael Robertson, Wayne Simmons, Mike Smith and Desmond Bailey.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted and donations can be made to Hawkinsville First Baptist Church Building Fund.
