Donnie L. Martin, age 82, of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania died on October 22, 2017 at his residence in Georgia. Services for Mr. Martin will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Dykes and Rev. Joe Daniel officiating with a meal to follow the services. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 10a.m. to 10:45a.m. at Harmony Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania at Antrim Brethren in Christ Church on December 2, 2017 at 11a.m. with a meal to follow.
Donnie was born on December 18, 1934 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to the late Lester and Beulah Martin. Mr. Martin was the self-employed owner of the D.L. Martin Co., DLM East Co. and the Hydro-Pneu Co. His company developed the Super Rock Continuous Underground Mining Machine. Through a joint venture the D.L. Martin Co. started Alliance Elevator. Donnie also owned Danzer Metal Works and the Globe Lift Co. He was very passionate about everything in his life. He was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church and an avid golfer and hunter. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his daughter, Dixie L. Martin and his brother, Lester Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia "Patti" Wingert Martin of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania; son, Dani L. (Jodi) Martin of Pennsylvania; daughters, Dawn L. (Hakan) Riggestad of Texas and Jenni (David) Formosa of Tennessee; brother, Nathaniel Martin of Pennsylvania and his sisters, Jackalen Spahr of Pennsylvania and Kathryn (Larry) Barnhart of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Derek L. Martin, Danielle L. Martin and Erik Riggestad.
