Edith Slade Nelson

Mrs. Edith Slade Nelson, age 100, of Hawkinsville, Ga., passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville, Ga.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023 in the chapel of Clark Funeral Home with Kelsie Brady officiating.  Burial will follow in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Mrs. Nelson’s home from 12:00 until 4:00 p.m. each day until the day of service.

Mrs. Nelson was 100 years old, but would have been 101 on January 31, 2023.  She was a native of Pulaski County, Ga. and a member of the Hawkinsville First Baptist Church.  Edith was a homemaker and loved to read and also to watch and listen to television.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Oscar and Elizabeth Eugenia Holt Slade; husband, John Malcolm Nelson; her 5 brothers, J. W. Slade, Wilbur Slade, John H. Slade, Joe Slade, Jr. and Lonnie Slade.

Survivors include her daughters, Nina Nelson Martin (Phillip) of Hawkinsville, Ga., Cindy Nelson Schlatz (Kim) of Irving, Texas; several nieces and nephews.

The family requests that offerings be given to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, P. O. Box 329, Palmetto, Ga. 30268.
