Elizabeth Odessa McDuffie Proffitt, age 89, of Hawkinsville, Georgia passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Pinewood Manor Nursing Home. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 7p.m. to 9p.m. at Clark Funeral Home.Funeral services will be held at 3p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Christian Hill Freewill Baptist Church, 3037 Christian Hill Rd., Rochelle, Georgia 31079 with Rev. Wayne Martin officiating. Interment will be at Christian Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Proffitt was a native of Wilcox County and worked for many years at Opelika Mfg. Company, she raised her seven children , traveling for years from Wilcox County then moving to Hawkinsville. After getting her children grown she retired from Opelika and spent many years enjoying spoiling and loving her family. She loved to cook and always encouraged seconds. Her favorite thing in the world to do was go to the beach and pick up seashells, she made many trips to the beach with various family members. Her family was her heart and she was the heart of her family. She has left this Earth, now lives in Heaven we will always love you – Mommie, Grandma, Ma-Ma. She passed away April 4, 2015 only 8 days before her 90th birthday. Mrs. Proffitt was preceded in death by her husband, E. Arthur Proffitt; sisters, Lelia Smith and Louise Smith; brothers, Andis McDuffie, Evans McDuffie and Joseph McDuffie; Parents, John and Rosa (Barton) McDuffie; son, Robert Proffitt.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharyon (Seth) Schwartz of Fayettville, Georgia and Phyllis (Ben) Proffitt of Hawkinsville, Georgia; sons, Ray (Elizabeth) Proffitt of Hawkinsville, Georgia, Kenneth (Debra) Proffitt of Eastman, Georgia, Johnny Proffitt of Cochran, Georgia and Eugene Proffitt of Eastman, Georgia; grandchildren, Shane, Brandon, Shannon, Angelia, Bobby, Stacy, Jennifer, Ian, Ryan, Courtney, Chandler, Sandy, Jody, Malcohm, Joshua, Natalie, Christopher and Matt. She is also survived by 31 great-grandchildren.
