Emmitt Linberg Long,
January 12, 1927 — June 19, 2017
Mr. Emmitt Linberg Long, Sr., 90, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at Pinewood Manor Nursing Home in Hawkinsville, Ga.A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21 2017 in Orange Hill Cemetery with Rev. Gary Andrews officiating.Visitation will be at Corinth Baptist Church from 12:30 until 1:30 in the social hall of the church after the graveside service.
Mr. Long was a native of Twiggs County, Ga. and a member of Corinth Baptist Church.He was retired from working for the City of Hawkinsville. Emmitt was a veteran of the Merchant Marines.He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Maggie Fowler Long; wife of 63 years, Sara Long and grandchild, Lee Long; three brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include sons, Emmitt Long, Jr. (June B.) of Hawkinsville, Ga.; Murrow Long of Hawkinsville, Ga.; daughters, Mary (Raymond) Hedden ofHawkinsville, Ga. Judy Skipper of Perry, Ga.; sisters, Rita Barth of Winter Haven, Florida, Annie Ryman of Fredericksburg, Virginia; 5 grandchildren, Courtney Long, Joey (Amy) Johnson, April Brown, Brian (Amy) Smith, Angela (Doug) Evans and 10 great-grandchildren.
Clark Funeral Home of Hawkinsville, Ga. is in charge of the arrangements.
