Eugene Talmadge Williams passed away peacefully at the Hospice House in Savannah, Ga. on June 12, 2012.
Talmadge was born in Dooly County, Ga. on July 28, 1937. He retired from the State Department of Transportation in 1987 while living in Hawkinsville, Ga. He also had resided in Cordele, Ga. before moving to Savannah in 2005.
Talmadge was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bessie Taylor Williams, his son, Roy; his wife, Dorothy, of 31 years and mother of his three children; a brother, Leon; three sisters, Mary Dunaway, Hazel Lewis and Verlin Dominey.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Williams of Dothan, Alabama; his son, Larry, of Hawkinsville, Ga.; his wife, Myra of Savannah; 1 brother, Frank, of Cordele, Ga.; three sisters, Wansley Edalgo of Pineview, Ga., Ruby Lee Coppage of Vienna, Ga. and Lenora "Boots" Layfield of Ft. Myers, Florida.; three grandsons and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a closed casket visitation one hour before the graveside service from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held Friday, June 15, 2012 at 3 p.m. in Orange Hill Cemetery with Rev. Hugo Hammond and Mark Alexander officiating. He will be buried next to his first wife, Dorothy.
