Evelyn Noble Towson

December 2, 1918 — July 31, 2017

Evelyn Noble Towson, age 98, passed away July 31, 2017 at her residence.A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Broad Street Baptist Church in Hawkinsville with burial services at 3:30 pm at Mystic Baptist Church Cemetery, Mystic, GA.The family will have a time of visitation on August 3rd at Clark Funeral Home, Hawkinsville from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.

Born in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late William Preston Noble and Laura Adkins.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Davis H. (Pete) Towson, her sisters Juanita McAnally and Mauvita Coley, her brothers Vernon, J. A., and Billy Noble, and her son-in-law Larry R. Harper.

She was a graduate of Georgia Southwestern College with an Associate Degree in Education and GA State College for Women (now GA College and State University) where she received a B.S.in Elementary Education.She taught school for 45 years, with the majority of those years being in the Irwin County School System and the Pulaski Country School System where she helped shape the lives of her students.She was a member of Broad Street Baptist Church and regularly attended services until about a year ago when her health began declining.After retirement in 1984 from her teaching career, she stayed enjoyed traveling to many locations in the US and Canada, having visited all the states except Alaska and Hawaii.She was also a charter member of the Singing Seniors.She especially enjoyed working in Vacation Bible School at her church.

She was known for her chocolate pies and shared them with family and friends.She was an ardent Atlanta Braves fan. Until her health precluded her from doing so, she enjoyed working in her flowers, crossword puzzles, and especially enjoyed reading Ed Grisamore's articles in the Macon Telegraph and all of his books.She was an inspiration to all those around her.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Lynn Towson Harper of Hawkinsville, her granddaughter Ranae Harper Mitchell (Donnie), Great Grandson Mitch Mitchell, Great Granddaughter Ariel Mitchell, and Great Great Granddaughter Harper Mitchell all of Haddock, GA., and her four-legged granddaughter Dahlia.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heart of Georgia Hospice for their care and compassion provided and especially to her caregivers Mary Taylor, Sindy Adams, Susan Hardy, and Robyn Busbee who provided such tender loving care to Mrs. Towson.

Flowers will be accepted.Memorial contributions may be made to Heart of .Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088 or to the charity of your choice.
