Frank Ewing Dortch, Jr. 87, of Hawkinsville, Ga. died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Kingsford Retirement Home in Hawkinsville, Ga.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Hawkinsville First Baptist Church with Dr. Don McClung officiating.Burial will be in Orange Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Dortch was a native of Bibb County, Ga. and a member of the Hawkinsville First Baptist Church.He taught Sunday school, served on several different church committees, was the church treasurer and served as a deacon for many, many years.Frank was a member of Kappa Alpha Order at Emory University and was the owner of F. E. Dortch & Son. Mr. Dortch was a retired Lt. Colonel in the U. S. Air Force, having proudly served on a B-24 bomber in WWII.He was preceded in death by his wife, Lottie Wallace Dortch and parents, Frank and Lois Houston Dortch.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce McLeod Dortch of Hawkinsville, Ga.; son, Pete (Bonnie) Dortch of Hawkinsville, Ga.; step-sons, Bob (Lynn) McLeod of Pineview, Ga. and Jim McLeod also of Pineview, Ga.; step-daughter, PamCurry (Johnny) of Hawkinsville, Ga.; grandchildren, Jeff Dortch (Jenna) of Perry, Ga., Jamie Corona (Greg) of Cary, N. C., Jill Bloodworth (Steven) of Macon, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Evan Radic, Gavin Dortch, Anderson Bloodworth, Abby Corona, Isaiah Bloodworth and Lowndes Bloodworth.
Visitation will be held in the church social hall from 1 to 1:45 p.m. before the service.
The family will receive friends at the home ofBonnie and Pete Dortch anytime before the service.
