Gloria Elizabeth Hatcher
January 5, 1938 — July 30, 2017
Mrs. Hatcher was a native ofPorterdale, Ga., a charter member of Broad Street Baptist Church and a current member of Pinehurst Baptist Church.She was the Sunday school teacher of the Beginners Sunday school class at Broad Street Baptist Church for over ten years. She was a member of the Hawkinsville Civitan Club of which she was the winner of the Georgia District Civitan Civitas Award and the Hawkinsville Civitan Club Civitan of the Year.She was a hair beautician for many years and then became a Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio Owner.Gloria was a wonderful mother of two children, a caring, giving and always loving grandmother of two and a loving, understanding wife of over 64 years.She was a proud great-grandmother of six great-grandkids and one great-great-granddaughter.Even with her own declining health, she always worried more about the health of others than her own.Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur J. and Minnie Estelle Brown; son, James Neal Hatcher and grandson, Trey Wilson.
Survivors include her husband, Emory Hatcher of Hawkinsville, Ga.; daughter, Amye Hatcher (John) Mays of East New Market, Maryland; sisters, Katherine Huett of Hawkinsville, Ga., Ethel Clements and brother-in-law, Thomas Clements of Ozark, Alabama, Yvonne Friddell of Jonesboro, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; grandchild, April Wilson Reid of East New Market, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Mary Beth Malcolm, Sadie Reid, Summer Reid, Shae Reid, Sylar Reid, Bo Burton and 1 great-great grandchild, Eva Ray Malcolm.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. before the service.
