Martha Gwendolyn "Gwen" Phelps England was born July 20, 1947, in Troy, Alabama, Pike County. Gwen was a loving wife, mother, granny, sister, aunt, and friend. She was born to parents David Wilson and Johnnie Mae Hannah Phelps and was the second born of their five children. Gwen was a 1965 graduate of Hawkinsville High School. She worked at Opelika Manufacturing Company and retired from Weyerhaeuser in Oglethorpe as a Woodyard Process Operator. Gwen was of the Baptist faith and a member of Double Branch Free Will Baptist Church.

Gwen married her husband, Jimmy Allen England, on October 13, 1973. They shared the love of raising their three children, dove hunting, dancing, listening to Southern rock music, fishing, and traveling in their motorhome to Texas, Florida, and the mountains. Gwen shared her talents of crocheting, sewing, and arts and crafts with her children, family, and friends. Gwen made her heavenly homecoming on Saturday, November 6, 2021, surrounded by her three children, Bobbie, Danielle, and Chad.

Gwen is survived by her children, Bobbie (Randy) Clemons of Unadilla, Danielle (Chris) Coody of Montrose, and Chad (Lisa) England of Hawkinsville; brother, Tim (Elaine) Phelps of Byromville; sister, Coni Phelps of Hawkinsville; grandchildren, Steven Wilson Mullis, Christopher Daniel Coody, Seth Wilson England, Emmi Jean England, Elizabeth Coody, Rebecca (Brad) Whiddon, and Brook (Jeremy) Yarborough; great-grandchildren, Ellie Jo Mullis, Braxton Whiddon, Briar Gilbert, and Sunny Whiddon. She is also survived by her Aunt Bobbie Cox of Alabama, sisters-in-law, Nancy Cotton of Ft. Worth, Texas and Billie Williams of Utopia, Texas, brother-in-law Dan (Rene) Maston of Selma, California, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Allen England, parents David Wilson and Johnnie Mae Phelps, brothers Earl Wayne Phelps and Richard Bruce Phelps, mother-in-law Jo Dell Maston, and father-in-law Charles Frances England.

Pallbearers will be Steven Mullis, Christopher Coody, Seth England, Alan Phelps, Marc Phelps, Troy Phelps, Kevin Mullis, and David Phelps. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 prior to the services at 2:00, November 9th, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home followed by burial at Pulaski/Bleckley Memorial Gardens.
