Hartley David Ward

April 8, 1955 — April 14, 2023

Hartley D. Ward, known to family and friends as David, returned home to his heavenly father on April 14, 2023. Born in Milford Connecticut to Ruth Boreiko Ward Wilson and Leo Poulin Jr., he was raised by his mother's adopted parents Hartley B. Ward and Sarah Soule alongside their children who he considered his siblings, Laura Crooks and George Ward At 17 years old David joined the Navy and served on the USS Sturgeon, a nuclear submarine. Upon leaving the Navy David returned to his home town, Milford Connecticut, where he met his current wife, Teresa Haviland. David and Teresa took different paths in life but stayed in touch every few years. David went on to work on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico before deciding to join the Army in 1980 where he served as military police. The army allowed David to travel to 19 different countries and every state except Alaska and Hawaii. In 2010 David returned to Milford and reconnected with Teresa. They were married on Milford green in 2013. Their time together was blessed with traveling to visit family around America. David had two sons, and daughter-in-laws . Justin and Sarah Ward, who gave him two granddaughters. Kaitlin Ward, and Rylee Ward. Jason and his spouse Stacy Ward. Jason gave David his third granddaughter Lillian Ward. David cherished his time with the family playing games, conversing and watching them excel in sports.. On his maternal side David had a brother Kevin, and two sisters who predeceased him, Robin and Debbie. Debbie gave David three nieces, Megan, Tamara, and Sierra. Before his death David connected with three siblings, their spouses and children from his father’s side who welcomed him with open arms. He very much loved you: Scott and Debbie Edgar, Tracy Edgar, Neal and Camilla Edgar and their children, spouses and grandchildren, Adam and Grace Edgar, Elizabeth and Zach Hulbert, and Gabi and Dakota Quinlan. David loved all the family who raised him, the family he made, and the family he found. He will be in our hearts and thoughts till we meet again. We truly saved the best for last my love. No services will be held at this time.
