Huell Marvin Edge (Marvin), a Southern Baptist minister for seven decades, passed away August 12, 2018. He was 95. He was born in Eva, Alabama, May 26, 1923, to Henry and Elizabeth Edge. He was the youngest son in a family of thirteen children. Marvin enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II on April 3, 1943 at the age of 19 and served until the end of the war, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his many years in ministry, Marvin was pastor of Orange Beach Baptist Church in Gulf Shores, AL, and many Middle Georgia churches including Hartford Baptist Church, Mars Hill Baptist Church, Pineview Baptist Church and Pope City Baptist Church. One of his proudest accomplishments was the founding of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Mobile, AL. Following his retirement, he continued to assist many area churches with his gospel ministry and was well-loved by many church communities.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Odie Rivers Edge; daughter Robbie Louise Stancil of Atlanta, GA; son Timothy Hughlin Edge of Concord, GA; and son Aubrey Leland Edge and wife Elizabeth of Jacksonville, FL and their children and his beloved grandchildren Ryan Aubrey Edge and Christopher Aidan Edge.
Marvin devoted his life to serving others. He was known for his welcoming presence and the sense of peace he would leave in his wake.It was a close call as to which he enjoyed more at the local Huddle House, the coffee or the company. While it was clear Marvin loved God and his family, working in his tool shed was his other great joy. He would take ordinary objects and spend hours improving upon their design. Marvin also enjoyed watching and reading "good, clean Westerns." He was a loving father and grandfather and will be remembered for his gentle spirit, ready smile and tender heart.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a funeral service on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Clark Funeral Home, 142 Commerce Street, Hawkinsville, GA. A private burial will follow.
