James "Jimmy" Thomas Dollar

April 22, 1942 — January 6, 2021

James Thomas "Jimmy" Dollar, Jr., age 78, of Hawkinsville passed peacefully on January 6, 2021 at his daughter's home, surrounded by love. Jimmy was born April 22, 1942 in Hawkinsville, GA to Susie Bell McGlamory Dollar and James Thomas Dollar, Sr. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church since childhood.
He was a 1960 graduate of Hawkinsville High School. Jimmy was an employee of American Can Company in Columbus, GA for 18 years. When this plant closed, Jimmy returned home to Hawkinsville where he served as a Maintenance Supervisor for Portals and then Hollingsworth and Vose.He was a leader and mentor to many young men over the years. He was a humble and simple man and family was priority in his life. In years past, he enjoyed planning and allowing for a yearly vacation to St. George Island with his immediate family.Much laughter and cherished memories were made during these trips, especially for his grandchildren.Jimmy enjoyed cooking, fishing, grilling, and football and always shared his sense of humor and a smile. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and by his son, Dennis Lamar Dollar.

He is survived by his wife and life partner, Sandra Dollar; his daughter, Kim Reuter (Eric) of Kathleen, GA; his former daughter-in-law, Stacey Dollar of McDonough, GA, and his siblings, Gayle (Bill) Wenrich of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Deborah (Reuben) Roberts of Hawkinsville, GA, Greg (Karen) Dollar of Hawkinsville, Janie (Gary) Anderson of McCrae, GA, and Angie (Al) Thompson of Warner Robins, GA.He is also survived by his grandchildren Sarra Sedghi of Birmingham, Alabama; Kelsi (Dustin) Little of Cedartown, GA, Lea Sedghi of San Francisco, California, Kyra Dollar of Kennesaw, GA and Gabriel Reuter of Kathleen, GA and one great granddaughter, Tatum Little of Cedartown, GA.He is also survived and loved by many special cousins, friends, nieces and nephews.

Due to current Covid-19 recommendations, a formal visitation will not be held. Family and friends are welcome to visit the chapel to honor Jimmy at Clark Funeral Home during business hours until noon on Saturday. A graveside service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 9 at 2:00 pm at Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens in Bleckley County.Pastor Kevin Morrison will be officiating at the service. Social distancing and masks are strongly encouraged.
