JAMES WADE JOHNSON

James Wade Johnson, 67, of Hawkinsville, Ga. died April 8, 2009 in Pulaski County.Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Gary Abbott officiating.Burial will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the Johnson residence.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Dooly Street, Hawkinsville, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine P. Johnson, Daughter, Kay Johnson of Atlanta, Ga.; sons, David (Ellie) Johnson and Donald (Kim) Johnson, all of Hawkinsville, Ga.; Brother, Tommy Johnson of Hawkinsville, Ga.; seven grandchildren: David James Johnson, Mary Catherine Johnson, Sarah Kate Johnson, Laura Johnson, Caroline Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson and Gracie Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a native of San Pedro, California. He was a graduate of Hawkinsville High School and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.He was president and CEO of McCranie Tractor Co. and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Taylor Regional Hospital. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, having served on the vestry and member of Mt. Hope Masonic Lodge No. 9.Mr. Johnson also was past president of Hawkinsville Rotary Club and a Life Member of NRA. He served on the Board of Directors of Rock Tenn Co. for twenty three years and the Board of Directors of the Bank of Dooly, the Board of Directors of Flagg Financial Corp.
Besides his love of his wife, children and grandchildren, he enjoyed farming, horticulture, flying, automobiles and reading.He was especially devoted to his loyal friend and business associate, Chuck Ellison.
