In Loving Memory of James McDuffie James McDuffie, a dedicated Army veteran, loving father and hardworking man, peacefully passed away on February 25, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on February 13th, 1946, James's life was a testament to resilience, sacrifice, and enduring love. He was a native of Wilcox County and a member of Broad Street Baptist Church in Hawkinsville, Georgia. From an early age, James embraced the values of hard work and commitment, helping his family on their farm before being drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War at the age of 19. James served with valor and distinction in active combat, demonstrating courage and selflessness in the face of adversity. Upon returning from Vietnam, James dedicated 33 years of service to Robins Air Force Base, contributing his skills and expertise to the vital work of supporting the nation's defense. His commitment to his work was unwavering, and his colleagues remember him as a reliable and diligent professional. Beyond his military and professional achievements, James was a loving father and devoted husband to June, his beloved wife of 53 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared moments. James's legacy as a family man is etched in the memories of his children, who fondly recall his guidance, strength, and the lessons of hard work and perseverance he instilled in them. James McDuffie was preceded in death by his wife, June McDuffie, daughter, Kelli McDuffie; parents, Audis and Pearl McDuffie, brother, John A. McDuffie, sister, Judy Allen. Survivors include his children, Kimberly (Dana) Grinstead of Hawkinsville, Kristin (Justin) Harden of Hawkinsville, Joseph McDuffie (Ana Kilgore) of Hawkinsville; grandchildren, Noah Grinstead, Hinleigh Harden, and Everleigh Harden; sister, Glenette (Robert) Braden of Pineview; nieces, Tonya Cooper, Robin Sapp and Holli Braden. He will always be remembered for his generous donations to St. Jude’s Children Hospital and the National Down Syndrome Society, his unwavering love for his family, and his commitment to service for our country. A memorial service to celebrate James's life will be held at 2p.m. on Wednesday, February 28th at Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering a life well-lived, marked by sacrifice, dedication, and enduring love. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children Hospital and the National Down Syndrome Society honoring James's memory and his lifelong commitment to serving others.
