James Edward Schaarschmidt, 78, of Hawkinsville, Ga. died Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at his residence.Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Schaarschmidt was a native of Toledo, Ohio and a member of the Christian Science Church.He was a Marine Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW and DAV and Combat Veterans.James was a purple heart recipient and was honorably discharged.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Carrie Clark Schaarschmidt of Hawkinsville, Ga.; daughter, Carrie Iona Smith of Pine Mountain, Ga.; sons, Jerry A Schaarschmidt of Panama City Beach, Fla., Christopher James Schaarschmidt of Statesville, North Carolina, Barry Lee Schaarschmidt of Texas; brother, Carl Fred Schaarschmidt of California; sisters, Rose Marie Kliendrenst of Michigan and Louise Priest of Michigan; four grandchildren.

Clark Funeral Home of Hawkinsville, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.
