JERRY MITCHELL COODY
Jerry Mitchell Coody, 63, of Hawkinsville, Ga. died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at his residence.Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2010 in the chapel of Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Waters officiating.Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Clark Funeral Home. Friends who desire may drop by the family residence at 21 Rosewood Street Sunday afternoon until the time for the visitation.
Jerry grew up in Pulaski County, the son of Howard and Ida Mae Coody.He graduated from Hawkinsville High School in 1966.He joined the Army and served in the Vietnam War. During his service there he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Sharpshooter Medal.He returned to Hawkinsville and married Linda Faye Bryant.They have been married for forty-one years.Jerry was a retired banker.
Jerry was a volunteer for many years with the Boy Scouts of America and with Little League.He enjoyed the outdoors, football, camping, hunting and especially fishing.He was a devoted family man and enjoyed his grandchildren and his dog, Grady.He was a member of the Crossroads United Methodist Church of Perry, Ga.Mr. Coody was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Coody.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Faye Coody of Hawkinsville, Ga.; daughter, Jerri Lynn Coody of Macon, Ga.; son, Cameron (Beth) Coody of Madison, Ga.,; grandsons, Ben Coody and Wes Coody; sisters, Hazel Wynne of Hawkinsville, Ga., Evelyn (Peyton) Smith of Columbus, Ga., Linda Henderson of Albany, Ga., Sheryl (Jimmy) Graham of Dublin, Ga.; brothers, Albert Coody of Warner Robins, Ga., Olin (Barbara) Coody of Cochran, Ga. and David (Susan) Coody of Bonaire, Ga.; 13 nieces and nephews.
Clark Funeral Home of Hawkinsville, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.
