Jimmy M. Bowen, 66, of Hawkinsville, Ga. passed away December 14, 2016 in the Navicent Health Hospital in Macon, Ga.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 in the Clark Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Kelly Pritchett officiating.Burial will be with military honors in the Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Bowen was a native of Telfair County, Ga. and a member of the Baptist faith having attended the Trinity Baptist Church.He was married to Norma Burton Bowen for 47 years.He retired from the Georgia Army National Guard with 21 years of service having served in Desert Storm.He received the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service ribbon, Army Reserve Components Achievement medal and the NCO Professional Development ribbon.He had worked for McCranie Tractor Company as a parts salesman.He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia Bowen, beloved son, Kelly James Bowen and his best friend, fishing buddy and brother, Johnny Bowen. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed spending time with his other fishing buddy, daughter Wendy and his granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Ann Bowen of Hawkinsville, Ga.; daughter, Wendy Gail Bowen of Hawkinsville, Ga.; 2 granddaughters, Hunter Alexis Piland (Bowen) (Brett) and Ariel Hope Bowen; Goddaughter, Dee Ann Greene and adopted grandchildren, Hunter and Savanna Dokey; several nieces and nephews; 2 sister-in-laws and 3 brother-in-laws.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday night at Clark Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
