Jimmy Allen England of Hawkinsville died on November 12, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born October 10, 1940in Brownwood, Texas. Jimmy was a pure bred Texan from the tip of his Stetson hat to the tip of his cowboy boots. He graduated from the inaugural class of the then new campus of San Angelo Central High School in San Angelo, Texas in 1959. Jimmy was a Baptist and attended Double Branch Freewill Baptist Church in Hawkinsville.
Jimmy worked for over 25 years as a trim carpenter and was very precise in his craft. He began working at the at Proctor & Gamble/Weyerhauser plant in Montezuma, Georgia shortly after the plant opened in 1980 as a plant maintenance technician and retired from Weyerhauser after a 23 year career. Jimmy enjoyed golf, dove shooting, dancing, fishing, grilling for his family and friends, deer hunting and was an avid football fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons. He also enjoyed his rock n roll music with The Eagles being his favorite group.
Jimmy was married to Gwen Phelps England for 42 years and their home is in Hawkinsville. He is survived by: Wife Gwen Phelps England, children; Bobbie K. Clemons (Randy) of Unadilla, Danielle K. Coody (Chris) of Montrose, Chad W. England (Lisa) of Hawkinsville, Shane Rosser and Sonya Rosser of Atlanta. Grandchildren: Steven Wilson Mullis, Christopher Daniel Coody, Seth Wilson England, Emmi Jean England, Rebecca C. Whiddon, Beth C. Clenney and Brook C. Gilbert, Sam Whitten and Evie Whitten. Great Grandchildren: Braxton Whiddon and Briar Gilbert. Siblings: Nancy England Cotton of Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas and Billie E. Williams of San Antonio, Texas as well as many nieces and nephews in Georgia and Texas; brother in law Tim (Elaine) Phelps of Byromville, Georgia and sister in law Coni Phelps;Special caregivers: Josie Moore and Hospice nurse Deborah T. Reneau.
Preceded in death by: his parents Jo Dell Rogers Maston and Charles Francis England and mother and father in law, Johnnie Mae Phelps and David Wilson Phelps.
Pallbearers will be: Steven Wilson Mullis, Christopher Daniel Coody, Seth Wilson England, David Marc Phelps, Troy Jackson Phelps and Steven Kevin Mullis.
Flowers will be accepted. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in his memory.
Visitation will be Saturday November 14 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 PM at Clark's Funeral Home in
Hawkinsville.
Funeral Services will be Sunday, November 15th at 3:00 in the Chapel at Clark's Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Pulaski-Bleckley
Memorial Gardens in Cochran, GA. Rev. Freddy Hogg and Rev. Steve McKuhen will officiate.
Clark Funeral Home of Hawkinsville, Georgia in charge of arrangements.
