Mr. Jimmy Ronald Steele, 73, of Rochelle, Georgia, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, January 23, 2019.Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Clark Funeral Home, Hawkinsville, Georgia with Pastor Frank Morris officiating.The family will greet friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the sanctuary of the chapel.A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2019 in the chapel of Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington, North Carolina. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time for the service at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home.Burial will be private in North Carolina.
Mr. Steele was a native of North Carolina.He joined the Air Force in 1963 and served at Pease AFB, New Hampshire; Guam; Robins AFB, Georgia; Vietnam; Korea; Homestead AFB, Florida; Turkey; England and retired Active Duty Air Force from Robins AFB in August 1985.Mr. Steele then became Civil Service employed by WR/ALC/XP in the Plans and Programs Branch until he retired in November 2006.He enjoyed farming – agricultural and livestock; was a known gunsmith, collector and enthusiast.Mr. Steele also enjoyed hunting and fishing; moreover, feeding and photography of the wildlife as he progressed with age.
Those left to forever cherish his memory include his wife of over 52 years, Sheila Coakley Steele; son, Joseph Ronald (Lucy) Steele of Gordon, Georgia and daughter, Catherine Steele (Tripp) Joiner of Hawkinsville, Georgia; grandchildren, Melinda Steele, Jacob Steele, Michael Joiner and Meredith Joiner; sisters, Joann Riley of Mebane, North Carolina, Faye Frye of Alamance, North Carolina; brothers, Larry (Debbie) Steele of Snow Camp, North Carolina and Bobby (Thelma) Steele of Burlington, North Carolina; special friend/son Willie "Pedro" Coley; and two special daughters, Angela Barrentine and Dawn Norris.Mr. Steele has several cousins, nieces and nephews also to cherish his memory.He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ruth Roberts Steele and sisters, Barbara Sue Roark and Brenda Cates.A special thank you is extended to Mrs. Odessa Cunningham of Pineview; as well as Robby and Liza with Reflections Hospice and all of their staff.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a contribution be made in memory of Mr. Steele to the Reflections Hospice in Cordele or The Brent Steele Memorial Fund in Snow Camp, North Carolina.
