John Franklin Sercer, 92, of Pineview, Ga. died Monday, February 25, 2013, in the Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville, Ga.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013, in the Oaks Community Church with Rev. Harold Feightner and Rev. Blake Westbrook officiating.Burial will be in the Pineview City Cemetery.
Mr. Sercer was a native of Houston County, Ga. and a member of the Pineview-Finleyson United Methodist Church.He was an Army Air Force Veteran of WWII, having served 3 ½ years in Okinawa.He served as Sunday school superintendent, chairman of the official board and was a trustee of the church.He retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base with 34 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Conner Sercer of Pineview, Ga.; daughters, Lynn (Roger) Bloodworth of Macon, Ga. and Susan (Larry) Bennett of Hawkinsville, Ga.; sisters, Pauline Sapp of Savannah, Ga. and Helen Stokes of Guyton, Ga.; four grandchildren, Drew Bloodworth, Meghan Bloodworth, Emily (Brad) Harper and Brian Bennett.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. at the church before the service.
The family will receive visitors at the home of Larry and Susan Bennett: 600 Columbus Highway, Hawkinsville.
Floral arrangements will be accepted or donations can be made to the Oaks Community Church, Pineview, Ga.or the Methodist Children's Home, Macon, Ga.
Clark Funeral Home of Hawkinsville, Ga. is in charge of the arrangements.
