Joseph Oscar Slade, Jr., 92,of Hawkinsville, Ga. died Monday, April 26, 2010 in Pinewood Manor Nursing Home in Hawkinsville.Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens with Dr. Don McClung officiating. Visitation will be immediately following the service at the cemetery.

Mr. Slade was a native of Pulaski County, Ga. and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hawkinsville, Ga.He was self-employed owner of the City Package Store and Slade Bonded Warehouse.Joe was a veteran of WWII having served in the Pacific Theater anda member of the 207th Military Police for 5 years.Mr. Slade was married to his wife, Olene, for 62 years.He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph O. and Elizabeth Holt Slade and daughter, Diane Slade Foley of Dunwoody, Ga.

Survivors include his wife, Olene Y. Slade of Hawkinsville, Ga.; daughter, Debbie Slade of Marietta, Ga.; granddaughter, Farrah Foley of Canton, Ga.; grandson, Christopher Foley also of Canton, Ga.; sister, Edith Slade Nelson of Hawkinsville, Ga.; brother, Lonnie E. Slade of Hawkinsville, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rudy Lancaster, Larry Dunaway, Phil Martin, Lenny Griffin, Joe Slade, Lon Slade, Bill Slade, Lee Slade, John Dawson and Wayne Bloodworth.

Clark Funeral Home of Hawkinsville, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.
