Graveside services for Mrs. June Stewart Hortman of Hawkinsville, Ga. who passed away at Regency Hospital on Saturday, November 12, 2011 will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2011 in Roberta City Cemetery with Rev. Freddy Hogg officiating.
Mrs. Hortman was a native of Crawford County and a member of the Hawkinsville First Baptist Church. After graduating from Crawford County High School, she married the love of her life, William Hortman.She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Mable Stewart; her husband of 46 years, William (Bill) Hortman and her brother, James M. Stewart of Pineview.Her first job was as teller at Fort Valley State Bank.After they moved to Hawkinsville around 1966, she worked as a bookkeeper for C&H Veneer Mill. Around 1987, she and Bill started their own business, Georgia Transit Services, until his death in January 2002.
Her passions were cooking, writing poetry and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Smith, (Mike) and Jennifer Harpe, (Jason), all of Hawkinsville, Ga.; brother-in-law, Franklin (Terri) Hortman of Kingsland, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Jean Ray of Perry, Georgia and Gainelle Stewart of Pineview, Ga.; two grandchildren, Sydney Smith and Morgan Smith; three step-grandchildren, Coy Harpe, Leila Harpe and Kenzie Harpe.
The family invites all friends and relatives to come by the Smith residence at 33 Hillcrest in Hawkinsville on Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 3p.m. to 5p.m. to share your memories and celebrate her life.
