Laura Matilda Murrell Studstill

Laura Matilda Murrell Studstill, 87 of Hawkinsville, Georgia passed peacefully on September 14, 2022. A visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Hawkinsville, Georgia with Rev. Jack Varnell officiating.

Laura was born June 19, 1935 to the late James and Ruth Edmonson Murrell of Morristown, TN. A graduate of Florida State University and Masters from Old Miss with a 40 year career in education, teaching Home Economics and later transitioned to Pulaski County School Nutrition Director. Laura enjoyed leading the Future Homemakers of America, volunteering with 4-H Club, a Band Mom and a devoted member of The United Methodist Church.  After retiring Laura gave back to her community volunteering and holding many offices in Civitan club, AARP and Relay for Life and enjoyed being a part of the United Methodist Women Group and dining with friends in the Red Hat Society.

Predeceased by parents Mr. & Mrs. James Murrell, brother Mel Murrell and husband Steve Studstill. She is survived by brother Douglas Murrell of Kitty Hawk, NC, son & daughter in law, Lawrell Studstill (Elayne) of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Hazel Studstill of Goleta, CA; Step daughter, Sandra Jones of Dallas, Tx.; Granddaughter, Madelyn Studstill of Atlanta, GA.; step- granddaughters, Julianna Benfield of Austin Tx., Lindsay Wilson of Amsterdam, Holland; great step- grandchildren, Liberty Benfield & Jett Benfield of Austin Tx.; great niece & nephew Jessica Sanders & Wes Ross Eastman GA.; great nephew Gus Ross and great niece Lauren Ross.
