Mr. Lewis Jackson Fowler,Sr. age 83, of Perry, Georgia died on December 28, 2019 at Heart of Georgia Hospice in Perry, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in the chapel of Clark Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Abbott, Dr. Don McClung and Dr. Kelly Pritchett officiating. Visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home from 12:30p.m. to 1:50p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held at Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens in Cochran, Georgia.
Mr. Fowler was born on June 20, 1936 in Ideal, Georgia to the late Clovis and Ladelle Fowler. Jack was a member of the Hawkinsville First Baptist Church and was a member of the Georgia Army National Guard and the Rotary Club. He worked at Fowler Grocery in Hawkinsville and also at McKinney Grocery. Jack also worked for Planters Bank in Hawkinsville as a loan officer. Mr. Fowler bought the Dairi-O in Hawkinsville and in 1972 he became the owner and founder of the Steakhouse Restaurant in Hawkinsville, Georgia. Jack was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clovis and Ladelle Gresham Fowler; wife of 53 years, Claudia Knight Fowler and his brother, Mack Fowler.
Those left to forever cherish his memory include his son, Lewis (Rhonda) Jackson Fowler, Jr. of Hawkinsville, Georgia; daughter, Cynthia (Fred) Daviss of Perry, Georgia; grandson, Blake (Michaela) Newman; great grandchildren, Cole Newman, Jayce Newman, Gracyn Newman, Asher Newman, Michael (Jaclyn) King, Mackenzie Gilbert, Kelley Daviss and Pepper Ware; sisters, Bernice Southerland of Hawkinsville, Georgia, Bonnie Turpin of Brunswick, Georgia and Sadye (Johnny) Cauley of Brunswick, Georgia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Simmons, Phil Pike, Chess Thompson, Jimmy Lowery, Desmond Bailey, Michael King, Blake Newman and Jim Cauley. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Mashburn, Ronnie Fleeman, Nicky Cabero, Royce Conner, Tom Arnold, Johnson Hall, Gene Gay, Harris Harden, Bub Way and Don Griffin.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Hawkinsville First Baptist Church.
