Mary Patterson Stone, 79, of Hawkinsville, Georgia died Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, Georgia. Mrs. Stone was a native of Forsyth County and a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church of Hawkinsville, Georgia. After graduating from Milton High School, in Alpharetta, Georgia she worked for American Can Company in Atlanta, Georgia. Mrs. Stone moved with her husband Bob Stone to Hawkinsville, Georgia in 1969. While living in Hawkinsville she worked with her husband at Delta Tire Company. She served astreasurer of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
She was Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and an active Pink Lady for Taylor Regional Hospital. During the 1980's Mrs. Stone lived with her husband in Putnam County Georgia. While living there she was very active with the Pink Ladies of Putnam General Hospital and she worked as office manager for Cardiac Disease. Mrs. Stone and her husband moved back to Hawkinsville in 2010. Mrs. Stone is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert G. Bob Stone; her parents, John Joseph Patterson and Ruby Voncille Patterson; brother, John Patterson, Aunt Laura Bell Patterson, and granddaughter Laura Lancaster Grinstead.
She is survived by her daughter, Louise Lancaster (Carl), grandson Zack of Hawkinsville, Georgia; son, Robert G. Stone, Jr. (Gerry) of Woodstock, Georgia; daughter, Catharine Elliot (Bill) of Panama City Beach, Florida; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and four great, great-grandchildren, her sisters, Mae Henderson (Dan) of Cumming, Georgia, Marie Norrell of Marietta, Georgia and Kathryn Hughes of Cumming, Georgia.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 2:00p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Hawkinsville, Georgia. The Very Reverend Doctor Gary L. Abbott, Sr. will officiate. The family will receive friends at the St. Luke's Parish House following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church Capital Fund.
