Monna Raye Rogers, age 75, joined her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, October, 21, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville, Georgia.
She was born in Washington, D.C. on July 13, 1939 to the former Hazel C. Henry and her husband Casey "Tex" Prescott Rogers. She grew up in Moringside and later raised her own family in Camp Springs, Maryland. She was employed by Prince Georges County Maryland school board for many years until her retirement. In 1992 she relocated to Georgia where she lived until her passing.
"Mona" will always be remembered for her exceptional dedication to her faith, her witty sense of humor, her deep appreciation for Godiva chocolates and most importantly her unconditional love for her family. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, J. Montgomery Rogers and her grandsons Logan and Cole Yates. She is survived by her three children, Joyce (Gary) Bowers of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland ; S. Renee (Wesley) Gordon of Hawkinsville, Georgia and George (Jennifer) Yates of LaPlata, Maryland. Also left to cherish her memory are eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
At her request there will be a private family service in Maryland. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
