Nathaniel Edd (Nathan) Thompson passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024 in Houston County, GA. Nathan was born October 8, 1982, in Cordele, GA to Mrs. Annie Mashburn Grinstead and the late Mr. Joseph Randall Thompson. After graduating from Hawkinsville High School in 2001, he attended and graduated Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. His greatest accomplishment in life was being a father to his son, Kolton Randall Thompson, whom he loved dearly.
Nathan began his teaching career in 2007 where he coached many sports teams including football, tennis, basketball and was looking forward to coaching golf this upcoming Spring. He was a member of the 2014 State Championship Football Coaching Staff and was named the 2013 Georgia Athletic Coaches Association Region 4A Boys' Basketball Assistant Coach of the Year. In his 18 years of teaching, he cultivated many friendships and continued to further his career, currently sitting as the Pulaski County Middle School Special Education Department Chair.
As a father, Nathan enjoyed playing games, swimming in the pool, vacationing and riding the golf cart with his best friend of all, Kolton. Nathan, the pursuer of many hobbies, was passionate about his fitness and health, golfing, collecting sports memorabilia and various commodities as well as spending time with his many friends, who he was affectionately known as Nate. He enjoyed attending sporting events, especially in support of The Atlanta Braves, where he was an A-List member. Perhaps his greatest passion was his love of music; sharing his never-ending playlist with friends, attending many concerts or even singing karaoke. At present, Nathan is also the proud manager of the Banana Roundhouse Fantasy Football Team, where he is currently undefeated in the 2024 season.
