Orville Stringer, age 85, passed away May 11, 2011 after an extended illness.He was born March 8, 1926 in High Springs, Florida to Florence and Alonza Stringer.Orville was a WWII Veteran who served in the Pacific Theater.He also worked for a government experiment station for 11 years.He came to Macon, Georgia in 1962 and started working for the City of Macon Public Works Department, where he retired after 26 ½ years of service in 1989 to travel with his wife and enjoy life.He was a devoted husband and father.Those who knew him, knew he was a man of few words.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Nell Jones Stringer.He is survived by his son, Lee Stringer; granddaughters, Lora Lee Stringer, Brandy Day and Samantha Stringer and five great- grandchildren; brothers, Merlin Stringer and Verna Lee Stringer and sister, Marie Strickland.
Visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home in Hawkinsville on May 12, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. Private burial will be with family at Orange Hill Cemetery in Hawkinsville on May 13, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gary Starrett officiating.
