Patrick James Hanks, age 67, of Hawkinsville, Georgia died October 31, 2015 at Emory Mid-Town Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral services for Mr. Hanks will be held at 2p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at New Life Church of God in Cochran, Georgia with Rev. Ryan Carnes officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at Harrell Cemetery in Pulaski County. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 6p.m. to 8p.m. at Clark Funeral Home.
Patrick was born in Sioux City, Iowa on October 26, 1948 and was a member of the New Life Church of God in Cochran, Georgia. He was a retired long haul truck driver from Crete Carrier Corporation and had also spent time working at Wal-Mart in Perry, Georgia and McDonald's in Hawkinsville, Georgia. Mr. Hanks was a Vietnam War veteran having served with the United States Marine Corp. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Service Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, RVN Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Frame and the Good Conduct Medal 1st Award. Patrick was also a member of the Hawkinsville American Legion Post and Deacon at Hartford Baptist Church for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Gina Hanks of Hawkinsville, Ga.; mother, Phyllis A. Rogers of Macon, Ga.; sons, David Ivey of Hawkinsville, Ga., B.J. Hanks of Centerville, Ga., Daniel Hanks of Michigan, Darren Graham of Montana and Dustin Graham of Louisiana; daughters, Darci Graham of Hawkinsville, Ga., Denise Lassere of Louisiana and Shannon Yaw of Iowa; sister, Cecilia Cihacek of Honey Creek, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Andy Adkins, Billy Hanks, David Ivey, Adam Churchwell and Nathan Churchwell.
Clark Funeral Home of Hawkinsville, Georgia in charge of arrangements.
