Paul Raymond Bennett, 78, of Hawkinsville, Ga. died Monday, January 7, 2013 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville, Ga.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at Westview Baptist Church.Burial will be in Andersonville National Cemetery with Rev. Freddie Rhodes and Rev. Dennis Phillips officiating.
Mr. Bennett was a native of Mishawaka, Indiana and a member of the Westview Baptist Church.He was a 1953 graduate of Mishawaka High School and retired from the U. S. Air Force as a Chief Master Sgt. after 42 years of service.He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge and was the voice of the Swap Shop on Sunny 103 FM Hawkinsville, WUFF Radio in Eastman and WNNG Radio in Warner Robins, Georgia.Paul was a Sunday school teacher at the Pinewood Retirement Villa, a board member of the Hawkinsville-Pulaski County Arts Council and a strong supporter of the Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra. He was also a poll officer in the Pulaski county elections. He retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base and was a boyscout master of Troop 239 Edwardsburg, Michigan. He was also an instructor for 8 years for the AARP drivers safety program.
Survivors include his wife, Lynne Harris Bennett of Hawkinsville, Ga., sons, Paul Anthony (Lois Ileta) Bennett of Westminister, Colorado and Christopher Patrick Bennett (Regina Elaine) of Edwardsburg, Michigan; sister-in-law, Lucille Mercedes of Mishawaka, Indiana; grandchildren, Jason Lee Bennett, (May). Patrick Christopher Bennett, (Stephanie), Daniel Paul Bennett, (Lynette), Joshua Austin Bennett, (Amy), Brandon Wesley Alan Bennett and Wendy Ileta Bennett Vining.; 2 great-grandchildren, Austyn Paul Thomas Withers and London Elaine Bennett.
Pallbearers will be Jason Lee Bennett, Brandon Bennett, James D. Heavener, John Harris, Terry Arter and Billy Wilson
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home.
