Ray L. Mixon, 86, of Hawkinsville, Ga. passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 in Macon, Ga.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014 in the Hawkinsville First United Methodist Church with Dr. Nita Crump, Dr. Kelly Pritchett and Rev. John Walker officiating.Burial will be in the Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Mixon was a native of Clermont, Florida and a member of the Hawkinsville First United Methodist Church.He was a Navy veteran of WWII, a graduate of the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy and a Pharmacist for 57 years.He was owner of Economy Drugs and M & M Drug Company of Hawkinsville for 51 years.Ray was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Emma Mixon; sister, Elwyn Whiddon and brothers, Bobby Mixon and Billy Mixon.
Survivors include his wife, Nell R. Mixon of Hawkinsville, Ga.; sons, Tim (Debbie) Mixon of Athens, Ga., Ricky (Ed) Mixon of Atlanta, Ga., Greg (Jean) Mixon of Hawkinsville, Ga. and daughter, Ranell (Tracy) Mays of Hawkinsville, Ga.; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Mixon, Joseph Mays, Alec Mays, Tracy Mays, Alton Dykes, Heath Dykes and Derrick Dykes.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Lucille Adams Sunday School Class and Dr. W. E. Coleman.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Clark Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Hawkinsville First United Methodist Church Capital Improvement Fund or the charity of your choice.
