REVEREND RODNEY ORVILLE BROWN
Reverend Rodney Orville Brown, age 95, went home to his father in Heaven on May 10, 2009.Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with Reverend Kelly Pritchett and Reverend G. Alex Lunsford officiating.Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Rodney Brown was born in Baraboo Wisconsin and grew up in a family of nine children.He graduated from Ithaca High School and attended Taylor University. In Wisconsin he worked as a licensed cheese maker, farmer, builder and an apple orchard manager, before moving his family to Kentucky.He became a licensed Christian worker and later an ordained minister in the Beefhide Gospel Mission with the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.His main goal in life was to spread the Gospel and win souls for Christ.He shared his faith by building churches, visiting hospital patients and distributing Christian literature.
He is remembered as a hard worker, loving dad, and an outstanding example for his grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemary Walker.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Edith Wilma Brown; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Hershel Roberts of Cozuille, OR; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jackie Sapp of Hawkinsville, GA; daughter and son-in-law Joyce and Richard Johnson of La Valle, WI; and son David Brown of Houston, TX; and 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Gideons, Int. and Wesley Chapel Cemetery Fund, c/o Jackie Sapp, P. O. Box 1238, Hawkinsville, Ga. 31036.
The family will receive friends on May 13, 2009 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Sapp residence on Highway 27.
