Robert Lee McAnally, Jr., age 94 of Hawkinsville, Georgia died on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville. Funeral services will be held at 3p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Hawkinsville First Baptist Church with Dr. Don McClung officiating. Visitation will be held from 1p.m. to 2:45p.m. immediately prior to the funeral service in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Orange Hill Cemetery in Hawkinsville.
Mr. McAnally was a native of Wilcox County and a member of Hawkinsville First Baptist Church, a Sunday School teacher and a deacon. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army. He enlisted on July 25, 1942 and served in the Rhineland as a Radio Repairman. He spent time in France, Germany and Czechoslovakia during the European Theater of Operations. Robert was a 60 year member of the Mount Hope Lodge #9 and past quarter master of the V.F.W. He retired from Robins Air Force Base in 1977 as an Electronics Systems Supervisor. Mr. McAnally was also a charter member of the Windy Inn Gang. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Juanita McAnally.
Robert is survived by his wife, Bobbie Lou Curry McAnally; son, Rudy (Robbie) McAnally of Perry, Georgia; step-son, Johnny (Pam) Curry of Hawkinsville, Georgia; daughter, Anita (Bill) McAnally Ward of Simpsonville, South Carolina; grandchildren, Laura Lee Ward of Tega Cay, SC, Julianne Ward of Simpsonville, SC, Lane Coffee of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and McLeod Curry of Hawkinsville, Georgia.
Flowers will be accepted but donations may be made to Hawkinsville First Baptist Church Building Fund.
