Mr. Rossie Emory Hatcher, age 87, of Hawkinsville, Georgia passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2021 in the chapel of Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Freddy Hogg and Rev. Fred Parker officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. before the service begins. Burial will be private in the family plot at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Wilcox County.
Mr. Hatcher was a native of Lizella, Ga. and a member of the Pinehurst First Baptist Church. He was a retired U. S. Postmaster. Emory was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Brown Hatcher; son, Neal Hatcher; grandson, Trey Wilson and his parents, Emory C. and Inez Carswell Hatcher.
Life's Accomplishments: Married to his loving wife, Gloria, over 64 years and had two lovely children, James Neal Hatcher and Amye Yvonne Hatcher. God blessed Emory with a loving family and honored him with being a proud Grand father of two, great grand father of six, and four great-great grandchildren (what a blessing)! He was an original member of the Pulaski County Fire Department and was the Pulaski County Fireman of the Year in 1972. He was a Certified Georgia State Emergency Medical Technician and was a Retired Platoon SGT in the Georgia Army National Guard. Emory was Active Duty during Desert Storm and he received the Best Non-Commissioned Officer In Battalion Award. Mr. Hatcher was a Postmaster for 13 years in Pinehurst, Georgia. He retired after 38 years of service in the United States Postal Service and The National Guard. He was an original and Charter Member of Broad Street Baptist Church and a member of Pinehurst Baptist Church. Emory was Chairman of the Board of Deacons at Pinehurst Baptist Church, President of the Hawkinsville Civitan Club Five Times, belonged to the Civitan President's Council and received Distinguish Civitan Club President's Award three times. Emory was the Georgia State Civitan District Chaplain for eight years and received Georgia State Civitan District Civitas Award and received Hawkinsville Civitan Club's Honor Key Award. Emory was the Hawkinsville Civitan Clubs- Civitan of the Year Twice. He worked part-time at Clark Funeral Home for over 40 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Amye Hatcher (Thomas Walters) of Eastman, Ga.; granddaughter, April Wilson Bautista (Victor) of Seaford, Delaware; sister-in-laws, Katherine Huett, Ethel Clements (Tom) Yvonne Friddell; 6 great-grandchildren, Mary Beth Malcom (Steven), Sadie Reid, Summer Reid, Shae Reid, Sylar Reid and Bo Burton; great-great grandchildren, Carter Malcom, Eva Ray Malcom, Copeland Malcom, Sarah Gray Garrett; first cousin, June Carroll of Lizella, Ga.; caregiver, Katie Colson and beloved friends Neal and Donna Clark.
