STEVIEL.RICHARDSON
Stevie L. Richardson, age 73, died on May 25, 2009 at Heartland Hospice in Riverdale, Georgia after complications from diabetes."Stevie" was born in Macon, Georgia to Lurline and Steve Richardson, Sr.He was the former Director of Clayton County Transportation and Development for 28 years, retiring in 1993.Stevie's career spanned during the early development of Clayton County from a prison work camp to a department of over 200 employees.His responsibilities expanded to cover not just the road department but Traffic Engineering, Planning and Zoning and the County Landfill.The informality and family atmosphere made Stevie's department one of the best places to work.He promoted from within on most occasions and started the careers of some of his most ambitious employees.Stevie was an avid fisherman and loved his field trials with his dogs, Anna andJessie.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia "Gin" Richardson; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Laura Richardson of Locust Grove, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Emily Page of Jonesboro, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law Kim and Stanley Pastuszka of Ellijay, Georgia; four grandchildren, Brent and Katie Pastuszka and Cali and Maddie Page; cousins, Jim and Dot Lee of Daytona Beach, Florida.
Interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery in Hawkinsville, Georgia on May 29th, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with a private graveside service for family and close friends.Paul Ballard, (family friend), will be officiating.In memory of Stevie, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation, or the Diabetes Foundation or charity of your choice.
