Thomas Edward Woods, Jr., age 79, of Pineview, Georgia, died at home Monday, July 18, 2011 with his family by his side.Funeral services will be held at Clark Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 with the Rev. Mobley Cross and Dr. Don McClung officiating.Burial will be at Orange Hill Cemetery in Hawkinsville, Georgia.
Mr. Woods was a native of Pulaski County and a member of First Baptist Church.Mr. Woods served in the United States Army and began his work career at Robins AFB in electronics.Edward was a member of the VFW and graciously dedicated time and money in support of our veterans.He loved the outdoors, spending much of his time gardening and maintaining the immaculate gardens around his home.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edward and Jewel Exie Mays Woods; sister, Virginia Doris Woods Coody and brother, George Piney Woods, V.
Edward married Betty Jean Pilkinton in 1960.They were loving and dedicated partners and parents until her death in 1988.
He is survived by his devoted wife Kay Woods, who will cherish the memories of their time together spent traveling, fishing and enjoying their children and grandchildren.
To carry on his wisdom and principles, he leaves behind his daughters, Sherry Ramsey (Phil) of Kathleen, Gina Terrell (Steve) of Hilliard, Ohio; Stepdaughters, Lisa Woods (Mitchell) of Hawkinsville, Gina Jessup of Warner Robins, Julie Teague (John) of Kathleen and Shealy Bloodworth (Jerry) of Kathleen; Grandchildren, Sara Elizabeth Terrell of Hilliard, Ohio, Megan Leigh Terrell of Hilliard, Ohio and Colin Thomas Ramsey of Kathleen; Step Grandchildren, Kayla Darsey (Jared) of Cochran, Sydney Bloodworth of Kathleen, Regina Pattillo (Alex) of Arlington, Virginia, Ben Woods of Statesboro, Jake Byrd of Atlanta, Carley Bloodworth of Kathleen, Matt Teague of Kathleen, Anna Grace Teague of Kathleen, Step Great Grandson, Owen Bloodworth of Kathleen and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home.
Memorial gifts may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
