William "Bill" Talmadge Boys was born on New Year's Eve 1959 to his parents, Betty C. Boys and Cyril T. Boys, who were looking forward to another tax deduction. He died unexpectedly on April 24th, 2024 while enjoying a beautiful evening with his best friend.
He leaves behind his daughter, Becca Devens (Rick) of Macon, his two perfect grandchildren, Jack Devens (10) and Juliet Devens (6), his siblings Robbie Gemmill (Rusty), of Crawfordville, FL, Rusty Boys of LaGrange, GA and Tucker Boys (Gay) of Fayetteville, AR.
Bill grew up in Americus, GA, and then moved to Atlanta to attend Georgia State, where he received his bachelor's in Broadcast Journalism. There, he married Debbie Frisbie (also from Americus), and had exactly one baby girl and no more. Bill said he had a perfect child and couldn't imagine loving another one as much. He didn't yet know that the joke would be on him when he was introduced to the lights of his life, his two grandchildren, who have never done a wrong thing in their entire lives.
Eventually, Bill and Debbie and the baby girl moved to Hawkinsville, GA. Bill worked at the local radio station as a prominent voice for Middle Georgia for over thirty years. His daughter thought he was famous and was so proud to have "Bill Boys from the radio" as her daddy.
Bill was incredibly talented, smart, funny, and creative. He wrote poetry, songs, short stories, and played the guitar and the piano in his free time. He enjoyed analyzing music, movies, behaviors, space, sports, and life itself. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hawkinsville and a member of the choir until his divorce in 2012 because...well...you know...things got awkward. But don't worry. Things got better, and he and Debbie became good friends who were proud of the family they started.
He loved his people incredibly well, and he especially loved his grandchildren. He was a good friend, a good father, and even a good ex-husband. His family is grateful for his existence and will tell stories of "Billisms" for the rest of their lives.
Memorial Services will be held on May 11, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in Hawkinsville, GA at 1:00 p.m. with visitation to follow. All are welcome.
