William Thomas Sparrow

On Tuesday, December 20, 2022, William Thomas (Bill) Sparrow peacefully completed his earthly journey at the age of 77 with his beloved wife of 47 years, Janis, and their four children by his side.  Bill is preceded in his passing by his parents Jim and Beatris Burnett Sparrow and his brothers Pope and Jimmy Sparrow.  He is survived by his wife, Janis Holder Sparrow, and his four children, Gini  Thompson (Tony), Sherry Exum (Andy), Melinda Stevens (Amanda) and Jim Sparrow (Caroline), and his sister Jane Sparrow Barfield (Harrell). Bill was a beloved grandpa who is survived by his grandchildren Sam, Max, Van and Isla Sparrow; Jared (Heidi) and Bryce Thompson; Matt Hattaway, Kaitlyn (Corey) Atkeison, Emily Exum; Braedon, Kian and Finn Scullion. Bill is also survived by his five great grandchildren Tucker, Cami Jo and Cooper Thompson; Emma Hattaway and Svea Wilde-Hattaway.

Bill graduated Hawkinsville High School in 1963 and later received an Associate’s Degree from Middle Georgia College.  Bill was a veteran of the US Army where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service Medal for Marksmanship during his service.  At the time of his passing, Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hawkinsville, GA.  He was born and raised in Hawkinsville, GA where he resided until 2012, when he and Janis moved to Hoover, AL to be close to their youngest grandchildren.

Bill’s lasting legacy is derived from his deeply committed love of his family and his active involvement in the lives of his children and grandchildren.  Bill will be remembered for endlessly working to provide, protect and lead his family with love. He was beloved by his wife, children, and grandchildren.  While heartbroken, his family is forever thankful to have experienced his powerful love and wonderful family leadership.

Family will receive family and friends from 1:00 to 1:50 pm with funeral services to follow at 2:00pm, Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Clark Funeral Home, 142 Commerce Street, Hawkinsville, GA 31036.  Graveside services will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
