Willie Drew Richardson, born January 1946, entered into the loving embrace of his Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 20, 2025, surrounded by his cherished family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he leaves behind a lasting legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love.
Born and raised in Hawkinsville, Georgia, Willie lived a life rich with purpose, hard work, and joy. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He dedicated many years to Warner Robins Air Force Base as a respected supervisor in the paint shop before embarking on his own successful contracting business. A man of integrity and generosity, he was always ready with a warm smile and a helping hand.
Willie found immense happiness in the simple pleasures of life—fishing on quiet mornings, hunting, working on and driving race cars, and spending time with those he loved. He loved Bluegrass music and could play almost anything with strings. His workshop was his sanctuary, where he poured his craftsmanship into woodworking projects, each piece a reflection of his skill and passion. Above all, his greatest joy was his family, whom he cherished beyond measure.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vermon Edward and Martha Elizabeth Richardson, his brothers Larry Avery Richardson and Vernon Henry Richardson. He is survived by his beloved wife, Michele Johnson Richardson, and his children: Bill (Kathy Moody), Richardson, Eric (Kandace) Richardson, Leah Richardson (Brad Waugh) Mona (Mark) Sinyard, and Pam (Glen) Herrington. He was a proud grandfather to Matt (Brittany), Mori (Kyle), Caleb (Taylor), Shane, Wil (Harley), Kaylee (Lane), Drew (Kasey), Michael (Makinna), and Samantha, as well as a great-grandfather to 12 adoring great-grandchildren, a sister, Laverne Kilgore, and one brother Curtis (Vivian) Richardson. A host of nieces and nephews and cousins. His love and guidance will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
A celebration of Willie's life will be held at Clark Funeral Home in Hawkinsville on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 22, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home. Flowers will be gratefully accepted as a tribute to his memory.
