Clarence E. "Gene" Hardy

Mr. Clarence E. “Gene” Hardy, age 89, of Hawkinsville, Georgia passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Hawkinsville First Baptist Church with Dr. Don McClung officiating. The family may be contacted prior to the services at 4 Oak Drive, Hawkinsville, Georgia 31036. Burial will be private at Union Hill Church Cemetery in Cochran, Georgia.

Gene was born on May 5, 1933 to the late Robert and Mary Hardy in Bibb County. Mr. Hardy was a hardware salesman for over 50 years. When he retired from Peeler Hardware and Monroe Hardware he started a lawn care business that he loved dearly. Mr. Hardy was an outdoor enthusiast and loved spending time in nature. Gene was a member and Deacon at Hawkinsville First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Karen Tucker and Janet Hardy.

Those left to forever cherish his memory include his wife, Marcia Hardy of Hawkinsville, Georgia; sons, Wayne (Tracie) Hardy of Macon, Georgia and Michael Hardy of Lake Oconee; step-children, Al (Kay) Anderson, John Anderson, Dora (Dave) Hood and Sarah Johnson; brother, Cliff (Joy) Hardy; sister, Carlo (Lowell) Bell. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
