Evelyn C. Crooms, 81, of Hawkinsville, Ga. died Sunday, September 21, 2014 at her residence.Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home.Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Broad Street Baptist Church with Dr. Kelly Pritchett and Rev. Jeff Waters officiating.Burial will be in Orange Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Crooms was a native ofDooly County, Ga. Evelyn was a devoted, loving, caring wife, mother andgrandmother.She was supportive of her family, friends, church and community.Her dedication and faithfulness to the church included being a charter member of the Broad Street Baptist Church and founder of the church library.Her many church services included serving on multiple committees andacting as church clerk for many years.She also served as a pink lady at Taylor Regional Hospital for 23 years.
Survivors include her son, Gary (Marsha) Crooms of Perry, Ga.; daughter, Beverly (Leslie) Sewell of Hawkinsville, Ga.; brother, Verlyn (Joyce) Cummings of Hawkinsville, Ga.; sister, Tommie C. Neal of Griffin, Ga.; 4 grandchildren, Shay Crooms, Meaghen Crooms, Ashley Sewell, Les (Melissa) Sewell and 1 great grandchild, Cady Sewell.
Honorary pallbearers will be her caregivers and the Pink Ladies of Taylor Regional Hospital.
Pallbearers will be Ray Conner, Brooks Bailey, Reuben Roberts, Earl Ray Tripp, Robert Herman and Robert Owings.
Flowers will be accepted, but donations may be made to Broad Street Baptist Church or to Gentiva Hospice, 319 Margie Drive, Warner Robins, Ga. 31088.
